What's Behind My Neck

Triggers.

"Pain in the neck".
Other than hearing Grandma refer to Grandpa that way years
ago, it's no wonder where the hyperbole came from.
There's reasons why you have neck pain and hang onto it for
a long time. They don't go away like the common
cold does.
The NLM issued a list of commonly identified triggers to
neck pain. Of course, I hate to say "I told you so",
but...
I have...to many of you. Some of you
chose to listen, while others....
sigh.
Here what the NLM states are common triggers of neck
pain.
- Straining your neck muscles.
- Prolonged sitting.
- Having bad posture while engaged in activities such as
reading, working or watching TV.
- Straining to view an improperly placed computer
monitor.
- Sleeping in an unusual position.
- Injuring the neck muscles during exercise.
- Having health conditions such as arthritis,
fibromyalgia, a herniated disk, or, less frequently,
meningitis.
Now, what's nice is that most of this is treatable rather
easily. A little bit of therapy and guidance and you're
set.
The tough part is that most of this will force YOU to change
the position of your viewing, sleeping, reading, sitting, and
working postures. And that means changing your
routine.
Since people are creatures of habit and gravitate towards
the least amount of work expended (i.e. being lazy) or towards
feeling good rather than doing the proper thing, they (you
reading this are part of that group called "they") won't
take ten minutes to change their computer monitor
position, their TV or favorite chair position, their sleep
position, their exercise habits (or lack thereof) or much
anything else that they do in their routine.
Few people do change anything in their routine; they can't
and won't because they're locked into a habit pattern of
comfort.
Thankfully, as I have work because of you.
Well, fortunately, neck pain is something I can help.
Changing the sleep posture can be helped by the cervical roll
(which I've used successfully for eight years and now almost
never wake up with a headache or neck pain) and a little
exercise.
Here's info on the neck
roll.

When you're ready to let go of your neck pain, let us
know.
But only when you're REALLY ready.
