It should be obvious that getting some moderate level of
activity per day, abstaining from cigarette smoking, moderating
alcohol consumption, and eating a diet that regularly includes
fruits and vegetables (five servings per day) will help reduce
your risk of stroke.
Having had experience working in rehabilitation and seeing the
long-term effects of stroke on people, I cannot stress enough
the need for good preventive care.
Both stroke and heart attack can kill.
However stroke is more likely to cripple and render you totally
dependent on the care of others. The long-term effects of
stroke can be devastating and excessive.
