Signs That You Have Sciatica
Including
pain that radiates from your back to lower
leg
If you've had it, then you know what sciatica
CAN feel like.
Sciatica is the phenomenon of pain, tingling,
burning, pulling or other sensation down the leg, which is
caused by inflammation or encroachment on the sciatic
nerve.
However, sciatica can present in different ways
to people and often gets mistaken for other problems, such as a
pulled muscle, a weak muscle, a tight muscle, a hip problem,
etc.
Tension on the sciatic nerve (which is really
one large nerve--made up of five root nerves in the
low back-- running from the buttock down the leg) can be
mild, unnoticable, or severely debiliatating.
Most commonly, sciatica pain occurs when a
protruding (herniated) spinal disk pushes against the sciatic
nerve.
Here are some other signs that you may have
sciatica.
- Feeling that you have a bad, persistent cramp in the
leg.
- Feeling pain when you sit, sneeze or cough.
- Feeling of general weakness in the leg.
- Feeling numbness or having a "pins and needles"
sensation in the leg.
- Feeling a burning or tingling sensation that runs down
the leg.
